Hi there, This is great news! Shame it's still only one-way, but it's definitely a step in the right direction. Can you tell me what format and resolution the stream is broadcast in? I've experimented with broadcasting using Windows Media Encoder and a high quality webcamera from one meetinghouse t...

I was amused with your LDS registration question regarding the year of the First Vision - which is a very clever question to ask. Was I the only person who had to guess three times and wait for the articles of faith question to come up before I could access anything? I felt really stupid for not kn...

I'm in Australia, and my account login works on every church application website that I'm aware of, and has done for a good 12 months at least, depending on when your stake president applied for access to LUWS I suppose. I don't think any problems with access would be due to your location.

Another vote for taking the laptop. I can type just as fast and much more legibly than I can write, so I save the hassle of interpreting my scrawl later on and sit in the meeting with the laptop typing them straight in. Also means if anyone needs info from a website (recentry, tes, cdol, luws) or fr...

Wow, I've never come across that maps.lds.org website website before. Kept me amused for minutes. Thanks for that! Didn't see any unit numbers come up anywhere while I was looking up units, but interesting nonetheless. CDOL or local unit websites certainly provide an easy way to access unit numbers ...

I think the main reason for the stake being responsible for the receipt in family history centres is that the centre is associated with the stake, not with any one ward (ie, they are not associated directly with or controlled by the ward they share a building with). In this case, the donation was ma...

awisden, I'm a little confused. I haven't seen any transition from norton to sophos. I certainly haven't seen Office 2007 become available. We got new computers only a little over a year ago, and they were all the old setup. Are these programs available worldwide, or only in a restricted trial area?...

Amen to everything mkmurray said, and I think a fair point by TechnoBabel. I have no problem with discussing policies and often find it useful to hear other's (referenced) interpretations of grey areas, but I do admit it becomes tiresome when people debate policies they know have no clear cut soluti...

Isn't that the point of these forums to get feedback? And wouldn't you expect that if a project someone was working on was in violation of church policy, they would prefer to find out about it here than through a phone call from the area presidency? Having experienced both, I can tell you which I pr...

Saving Users From Themselves

One problem I have had with some members in our ward is that the parents are about as tech savvy as my grandmother (and she's dead) and the kids a good deal smarter. I have been around a couple of times and set up the computer with antivirus, firewall and internet filter. However, the kids still man...
