Re: Webcast testing glitches

The first 3-4 broadcasts I did were miserable. I could not get it to work without glitches, both big and small. Finally I bypassed the filter/router in each building and plugged directly into the cable modem, and ever since I have had zero issues. I even upped the video and audio quality. I’d recom...

PTZ Visca Control with USB Joystick

Our stake center was just upgraded to the new HD distribution system and we finally have a PTZ camera mounted on the back wall of the chapel. The person who adjusted the system and trained us said there was a free Visca control software package for controlling the camera (via USB->RS232->PTZ camera)...

Re: New Wireless mics are 2.4 Ghz

We did an event with a visiting authority where they requested 10 or 12 mics. We turned off all Wifi in the building and located the receivers centrally. The mics are slower to connect than the older ones, but that arrangement worked pretty well. More recently, however, I set up a single mic for a s...

@sbradshaw is correct, so I can't post them due to those restrictions. Please send me a private message through the forum message system if you are interested.

Re: Streaming Sacrament Meeting

jermshp: Consider some of the Asterisk-based conference call systems for hosting the call. It's possible to set up a call with all the participants (but one) muted, so noise from the homes of the participants doesn't mix in with the rest of the audio. This is how Asterisk phone systems implement pag...

Hymns in Keynote or PowerPoint slides?

We are upgrading to HD webcasts and as part of the process, I'm re-doing the hymns I typed up (originally in Final Cut Pro as individual frames with titles). Rather than do each hymn individually, I built up a (complicated) workflow involving a hand-crafted LabVIEW application, some AppleScript, and...

Re: Streaming Sacrament Meeting

With all due respect, russellhltn, By the FCC definition, yes, it is. The transmission goes a lot further than that, it's just the poor antennas and low-sensitivity receive circuitry in the assistive listening receivers that reduce the range. The signal is not encrypted and can be received by anyone...

Re: Streaming Sacrament Meeting

Most, if not all, chapels broadcast already via radio. Based on that interpretation we need to remove the assistive listening system from our building. If not for the high cost of the receivers and the poor audio quality, we would be using them instead.

Re: Streaming Sacrament Meeting

I recommend audio-only as well, not only for policy reasons, but for bandwidth, ease of setup, and minimizing the intrusion upon the spirit of the meeting. For a few weeks I've been testing audio-only recording and streaming with a Raspberry Pi, USB audio adapter, and Darkice streaming to Icecast in...
