Arrrgh!

This past Sunday the ward clerk from this same ward called to inform me that this problem occurred yet again. He had been logged in to MLS earlier Sunday morning and then logged out and went home. Later, when he came back for their meeting block, he went to log in and the user names were gone. Afte...

How recently had the addresses been updated? I believe there's a significant delay from the time the ward does a send/receive and when the stake gets it. Perhaps as much as a month. If it's longer then that, then it sounds like something that should be checked into. First thing I'd do is verify tha...

2) You need to treat people for what they are, not for what they have been. If the ward was able to see someone's past callings, they might treat them differently. Interesting. Personally I would say the bishop is no better, no more faithful, no more exerting then the usher. All people are equal ri...

Keeping calling information current in MLS

Maybe there is a good reason for having that information that I haven't thought of that would justify all the extra effort and man-hours. And maybe in other wards with less turnover it wouldn't be as much of an extra effort, but at least in the high-turnover wards I have been in, I think it is safe...

Deep Freeze licensing for FHC computers

as an alternative - Does the Church have any licenses for Faronics' Deep Freeze? http://www.faronics.com/html/deepfreeze.asp http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deep_Freeze_(software ) I use this extensively at work and it works amazingly well. I fix a configuration at the start of a quarter, and unless t...

Broadcast downloads for DVD burning

I would like to suggest consideration of a secure download ability for those properly called to be able to download and burn to DVD the broadcasts so they can be stored in DVD format. This would make their job easier and enable us to free up space in our libraries. I've had this same thought and ag...

Meetinghouse Internet

We would love to lose the dial tone, but for those stakes not on the internet beta test (and in buildings without approved FHC or CCN), is there a date when our stake presidents can request internet connectivity for all of their units? Last I heard was by the end of the first quarter '08. Has anyon...

Event pictures on LUWS

3. We've called a Ward Photographer, but there's really no place to post event pictures (Ward parties, work projects, scouting trips, etc.) other than snapshots on the wall outside the Bishop's office. LUWS just seems like a great place to be able to post these kinds of things without having to lin...

Copy and Paste MLS report data in delimited form

I am new to MLS (just called as the Ward Clerk). I know I can export membership data to .csv files that I can later import into Excel etc., but I would like to know if it is possible to use the "Print to a file" feature for any of the canned MLS reports the same way? What other programs (besides ML...

MLS Backup Location

A ward clerk recently commented to me that it was sure nice to not have to insert diskettes in the computer anymore, now that MLS was backing up to the hard drive.:eek: It appears that if someone neglects putting media in the drive when MLS is about to do its backup, MLS will default to s...
