Use position title, not name of person

Danpass did mention he was going off a hopeful assumption that user name and real member name were being tied to such financial transactions. I think what he's referring to is there is the ability in MLS to connect one's UserID to one's membership record. Yes and yes. MLS does have the ability to c...

That is contrary to the instructions., I've never heard this before. I checked the MLS built-in help section for adding users. In an example user name they do use the person's name rather than their position. Are these the instructions your are referring to? If not, please point me to wh...

Use position title, not name of person

You are really much better off creating user names based on the position. For example: Bishop 1st Coun 2nd Coun Ward Clerk VT Coordinator and so on. Then within the settings for each user, you select the specific member who currently has the calling and let the individual type in their password of c...

I'm not sure what your position in your ward is, but it sounds like you are a clerk. It is possible to add names to the High Priest rolls in MLS. Often an older elder will meet with the high priests without being a high priest simply because they are his peers and he doesn't feel at home with young...

This issue occurred for the second time in the same ward in my stake this past week. The first time, a couple of months ago, they were running MLS 2.6. Last week's occurrence happened while running MLS 2.6.2. This past Sunday the ward clerk from this same ward called to inform me that this problem ...

Procedure to recover from MLS loss of user names

If you look at Program Files\LDS Church\MLS\Units\{unit number} you'll see a mlsData directory and a number of internal backups. Renaming the mlsData and copying one of the backups into it's place should do the trick. The newest or second newest should do it. This issue occurred for the second time...

MLS 2.6 and autodetect of connection type

One of the changes listed in the release notes for MLS 2.6 is that it will automatically use a network connection if present. We recently received permission to connect unit computers to the FHC LAN in one of our meetinghouses. After doing this yesterday, my first attempt to send/receive in MLS used...

restoring lost LUWS admin access

Well, I was able to login in a little later and figured everything was fine, until I went into the admin page. For some reason, I am now only a "Resource Admin" as opposed to one for the ward website. The same thing is happening to my Stake Admin. This has happened to me twice in the past after loc...

Temple Recommend Activation

The 'view' and 'edit' recommend permissions appear to be new, exclusive of 'administrator'. It looks like 'edit' permissions are not available to users at the ward level, since this will be a function of the stake. Again, I'm making some assumptions here since there has been no information communic...
