MLS on virtual machines
From previous threads, it seems like it won't work (that MLS assumes there is only one installation per machine). However, perhaps you can load up Virtual PC or VMWare Player and run a VM? Then again, maybe that's a bad idea if your hardware specs are those of a standard Ward machine. Another free ...

Who ran network wiring
Did you hire a contractor to run the network in the building or did you do it yourself? Were the facilities people involved? We notified the FM director of our intent to wire the buildings. We were instructed to have the work performed by a licensed contractor and confirm that they carried worker's...

Filtering Options
On another note, the "LDS-only" connection type seems to be the best option for clerks offices (though not for Family History Centers) because of the obvious dangers presented. Any thoughts regarding this? Our Stake President opted for the "LDS Extended Access" option. We decided to place labels on...

Who knows why IBM sold. Probably so they could focus on making mainframes, which is there real money-maker. This wasn't really the point of my posting. I meant that I don't have strong feelings regarding the subject of this forum thread. However, recognizing that we have Linux evangelists(;)) among...

WOW!
While the tag cloud is interesting, I just created a word tree visualization using the same text that you uploaded. This opens up a whole new way to search the scriptures (at least new to me). Type any word into the search field and select the start or end radio button to indicate whether you want t...

Arrrgh!
This past Sunday the ward clerk from this same ward called to inform me that this problem occurred yet again. He had been logged in to MLS earlier Sunday morning and then logged out and went home. Later, when he came back for their meeting block, he went to log in and the user names were gone. Afte...

How recently had the addresses been updated? I believe there's a significant delay from the time the ward does a send/receive and when the stake gets it. Perhaps as much as a month. If it's longer then that, then it sounds like something that should be checked into. First thing I'd do is verify tha...

2) You need to treat people for what they are, not for what they have been. If the ward was able to see someone's past callings, they might treat them differently. Interesting. Personally I would say the bishop is no better, no more faithful, no more exerting then the usher. All people are equal ri...
