One way to test search capabilities is to let the engine search for your own name, and/or people you know well. This helps with understanding capacity and accuracy. I tested zabasearch and it found me, my address, and phone number, but my birth year is off by one. I'm bookmarking this for future use...

new Java trick

I've been testing some theories about Java operation, but came across a new trick from it today. After updating to version 6 update 12 a few MLS functions stopped responding and gave very uninformative error messages. We couldn't start a new tithing batch, or access system options, or access bank re...

It is normal to see multiple instances of some utilities, so it took a little time to determine that Java was the culprit. I've...

Symantec AV (vs Norton AV)

I'm just wondering if anyone has questioned the use of Norton AntiVirus software on church PC's? If so, I'd like to review the answers given. My experience is that Norton is not only a burdensome resource hog, but at least moderately ineffective compared to several other options available. I'm guess...

PC hanging up with javaw.exe & MLS

I've struggled with this java issue for probably a year or so. My understanding is that a second instance of javaw.exe is loaded, unless the PC is rebooted, or you take the time to end the first instance (Windows process). Because I tend to let the Ward PC run all day Sunday I've developed a standar...
