Google?

I recently found out I have one unit using Google Desktop for appointment scheduling. They have found it very useful, but I am concerned about security/privacy. They have been keeping only the family name and appointment time on it for privacy reasons, but I don't know much about this software and n...

All I get now is starting to boot then a blue screen with an application error. I guess I will have to call and get the Dell tech back. Newt What is the blue screen error? Is it 0x0000007b? Per Dell Tech: If so, your SATA mode is set wrong. Go into bios. Drives. Check SATA mode. If it is ACHI,...

I have another hard problem related. I'm the STS in our stake and a strong rain killed the computer of one of our wards. Brazilian Dell Support can't help me because the machines are purchased in Brazil with a worldwide contract with Dell in USA and I can't know what is the corporate name the Churc...

Heat inducing Cover?

As far as I can tell, Desktop 5.9 is installed onto these new USFF computers, and the Restore DVD in the box is also Desktop 5.9. As far as ventilation goes, isn't it weird that the computer is enclosed in a plastic box that has a cover on the BACK of the computer to cover up all the wires? Sure, t...

Ultra Small Form Factor Can Overheat!

My son is a Dell warranty repairman. He says the ultra small form factor models work great, as long as they remain well ventilated. Make sure they are placed away from the wall and other equipment so they can breath. Otherwise, they will overheat and fry the mobo. They are so small, people are putti...

I have noticed the same problem in our units with wireless connections. I think the presence of broadband causes the program to assume a connection is available. Hardwire establishes a connection almost immediately on bootup, while wireless takes time to establish a connection with the access point ...

Good point.

But still curious as to how long it will take. 3 of the 4 remaining computers are the old GX270s and all are 45-90 minutes away in 3 different directions, so time planning is important here. I should have been thinking ahead and timed one of the installs.

Does anyone know how long the silent install runs? I have done seven installations, doing 2-3 at a time in tandem, but with many interruptions. I always waited about 15 mins - mostly due to interruptions - between starting the computer management software and the sophos software. I have single unit ...
