Maybe a record of the families were still being kept in the old MLS but hidden? (Could be for archival purposes or something else that only needed the first and middle names). That was my initial thought as well, except that a number of these records were for multiple individuals within a single ho...

I don't know about other units, but our computer has quite a bit of stuff on it other than MLS. Anything of importance should be backed up to removable media. Given the low cost of USB...

MLS Version

This was seen in MLS version 2.7.2. It may have been present in prior versions and we just didn't notice.

"Name Unknown" Households

FYI... I'm not sure if anyone else has seen this, but I figure it couldn't hurt to document the oddity and its apparent solution. Sunday morning I noticed that there were a number of households named "Name Unknown, First Middle" (where First and Middle were first and middle names of individuals). U...

Additional details

1. Give hooks into existing user interfaces. An example would be the ability to add additional side-tabs on Individual or Household editing screens. 2. API access to the user list. This could be used to write bulletin board and private message scripts. I have wanted the ability to leave messages for...

MLS + Jython

Since MLS is developed in Java, what would be the likelihood that we could get a Jython interface added to it? Similar to the Custom Reports interface, we could "upload" Python/Jython scripts into MLS and let the other users in the local unit use them as well. Ideally, the API would give a Jython sc...

Your points about individual (and family) responsibility are very valid. I just want to remind everyone to keep the focus of the thread on technology. It's one thing to mention that a specific application of technology might be unnecessary or ineffectual. But I don't want this thread to wander into...

I agree - it's hard enough for those of us in the industry to keep up, I have no idea what it must feel like for everyone else. And that brings me to what you said about there being things parents can do. You are right. There are some things parents can do, and parents can't neglect their responsibi...

Staying ahead of the curve

During a couple of our leadership meetings last Sunday, we were discussing the pornography and unchastity epidemic. One point that was brought up was that of parents and priesthood leaders being behind the curve when it comes to current trends in youth interests and activities. Many of those that ar...

U.S. Daylight Savings Time Change

From the Microsoft Knowledge-base Article: "Starting in the spring of 2007, daylight saving time (DST) start and end dates for the United States will transition to comply with the Energy Policy Act of 2005. DST dates in the United States will start three weeks earlier (2:00 A.M. on the second Sunday...
