Re: The Youth Face to Face Broadcast Paradox

Fireside Success. When our leaders realized the time had changed an hour later, too late for our youth to be out on a school night, they decided to watch it next week, so we will stream it. Not sure yet how we will get it past the firewall though. You probably already did this, but for everyone els...

Re: Getting Rid of Silverlight

I just used the new player broadcasting to two receiving sites. I was able to use our existing Core 2 Duo laptops to receive the broadcast in 720p at 2200 kbps without any buffering or quality degradation. The receiving sites were flat at 2200 kbps for the duration of the meeting. It was the first t...

Re: The Youth Face to Face Broadcast Paradox

Since you can't be sure it will be on the satellite, you have to prepare to use the Internet stream anyway, so you don't really get to save any work this way. Fortunately for me, the infrastructure I use all goes through the same video switcher, so whether it's over the Internet or satellite feed do...

Re: The Youth Face to Face Broadcast Paradox

Why don't they just announce that it will be on the satellite feed if it's going to be there? Tonight is the first Face to Face that I've been asked to show live in a building and I am still uncertain whether I will be able to show it or not. I would rather not bypass the firewall if I don't have to...

Re: Audio pop during Christmas devotional

I always have popping on the satellite feed at my building, so I didn't notice that. The audio dropouts were pretty distracting, though. It's always difficult to tell if it's my local sound system/satellite box or if it's an issue in the stream that everyone is experiencing.

Re: Audio pop during Christmas devotional

I am getting periodic audio dropouts on the satellite. It didn't start until just before President Eyring started welcoming everyone at the beginning. I haven't heard it for a few minutes now. Hopefully it's worked out.

Re: SLC shut our Webcasting session down for Regional Conference

Thank you for joining in the conversation, rannthal. It is reassuring to hear that we are being heard. It would be helpful if we could have some official communication about what happened and the steps that are being taken to assure us that this isn't just a novelty to the Church technology departme...

Re: SLC shut our Webcasting session down for Regional Conference

We used the old Meetinghouse Webcast solution for years. It was never very reliable and the quality was terrible. We abandoned it in favor of using Slingboxes a couple of years ago. The primary drivers for trying the new official webcast solution were the free Teradek VidiU devices, the desire to al...

Re: SLC shut our Webcasting session down for Regional Conference

I am in Gilbert, Arizona. I did not receive any information about an internet stream of the regional conference. We have the ability to easily rebroadcast the satellite feed using our video switcher, so we planned to do just that. The added benefit is all the buildings are on the same timing and the...
