Re: FIR 500 character limit is frustrating on many levels

Guess I just needed to dig deeper on that, I couldn't find one on the web version, and missed the one in the app. Thanks!

Funny enough the Description field for feedback is 1000, and it shows a count/limit.

FIR 500 character limit is frustrating on many levels

The 500 character limit on describing an issue in FIR can be incredibly frustrating at times. For some stuff like "broken outlet" or "mouse droppings" it's easy to fit in 500 characters. However when you need to explain to the FM group, or JLL exactly what you need done, in detai...

Re: Sharing our experience with Virtual Sacrament Meeting Broadcasts

Been testing this week using OBS with a webcam and connecting to the chapel audio via the record out 3.5mm outlet via the Church webcast system. Everything seems to ok, the only thing with the audio is that when no one is speaking there is a noticeable static noise. When someone speaks into the mic...

Re: Sharing our experience with Virtual Sacrament Meeting Broadcasts

I've run into a problem with the Amcrest camera you recommended. It doesn't show support for h264. Did I get the wrong one or is something else wrong? The Amcrest shows up as 2 different video devices, the h264 encoded stream shows up on the second interface for some reason, try ffmpeg -list_format...

Re: Sharing our experience with Virtual Sacrament Meeting Broadcasts

1) Is there some reason you decided to compile ffmpeg rather than point to a repository and download a precompiled binary? When I started testing this the version of ffmpeg in the repo for Rasbian didn't include the x264 encoder that's required to send a stream to YouTube. I haven't checked to see ...

Re: Building a cable from sound system to "mic in"

Have you considered using an ALS (Assisted Listening System) receiver to get sound? The receiver has a volume control so you can turn it down. You may be able to do that and get by without an attenuator. I've used the ALS receiver in the past to get sound for various things (the sacrament broadcast...

Yes, I've been looking through Amazon at attenuators, but I your find looks like a perfect fit.

Re: Sharing our experience with Virtual Sacrament Meeting Broadcasts

I would point out the one piece of direction that we have received from the First Presidency regarding the broadcasted meetings: https://newsroom.churchofjesuschrist.org/article/safely-increasing-activity-during-covid-19?cid=email-OCA_SafelyIncreasingActivity_091020_CTA "Since a sacrament broad...

Re: Building a cable from sound system to "mic in"

What I'm interested in is how many "makers" do we have that can make this cable? I wish I could point people to something commercial off-the-shelf, but I'm not sure where to find them. I might try dropping into a local supply store for professional installers to see what they have. Good q...
