MLS Site

Have your STS download Adobe Reader from http://mls.lds.org

The version available is 8.1.0. The download from the MLS site should work for the 5.5 desktop.

Then you should have the Corporate Edition of Symantec Anti-virus on those machines. Just keep the virus definitions upto date and you should be fine. Look over the paperwork you got that references mls.lds.org and the password needed for access. There you will find more up-to-date information. Eas...

Thanks for the reply. I find it interesting that the directive you are speaking of is not listed on the Letters & Policies section on lds.org ( http://www.lds.org/ldsorg/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=70697088a04de010VgnVCM100000176f620aRCRD&locale=0 ). As for contacting the Stake Technology Specialist (STS)...

Policy and Guidelines

Being new to my calling as assistant stake clerk, I thought I would review policies that are posted on lds.org. An area that sparked my interest was antivirus. According to the policy ( http://www.lds.org/Static%20Files/PDF/STS/Troubleshooting%20PDFs/00262_000_Mar05_notice%5B2%5D.pdf ) the computer ...

You are not alone. My ward clerk called me up to help him with a similar problem. I don't remember all the details, but I do remember only one of the records was showing the spouse as being "other". We tried many things to get it corrected. I don't know if this is the correct way to resolve this sit...

Internet Access/Email Access

There were some services offered by companies that broke out Internet Access (what they termed for using a web browser) and Email Access. One that comes to mind first offered Internet Access and Email Access for free. When I believe it was discovered that ads could not support this model, they start...

Check your plugins

You might want to check your plugins. I am using FireFox 2.0.0.7 and don't have any problems with the drop downs.

Grid

The title sure sparked an interest for an area that I like: HAM Radio. In HAM Radio, there is a grid system. If I am not mistaken, the system is based on Lat/Lon. It divides the whole earth into grid squares. There are even contests that deal with getting contacts from certain grids. How is it calcu...

mplayer Steps

Interesting you could not get mplayer working. I just tried it again on a clean machine (FC6) and was able to watch and listen to BYUTV. Here are my steps: 1. download mplayer source from http://www4.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/MPlayer-1.0rc1.tar.bz2 2. download all-20061022.tar.bz2 codecs from ht...

Try mplayer

I have been able to get streaming audio and video to work with Linux (RedHat and FC). I used a program called mplayer to use the Windows Media streams. It was fairly easy to setup and did require some .dll files for the proper codecs. BYU has a page all setup for help with Linux: http://www.byutv.or...
