Re: Alternatives to Cisco

Hi all, Are there any alternatives to the cisco firewall boxes? because cisco isnt' getting in here due to import limits. Although I've blocked several domain words in the tplink router , like youtube and porn, it is rather tedious to do this in every chapel, as well as not being very efficient. An...

Re: Filter Check Fails at One Building

This building is unusual in that we use a 4G connection and CradlePoint for the Internet access. There lies the problem. Most mobile carriers have their own DNS servers programmed into their wireless card. When the firewall sends the DNS lookup through to the wireless card, the card in turn makes i...

Yes the Assistant Technology Specialist does not have permission to turn the wifi on and off. In order to enable/disable the wifi, you will need to coordinate with the Stake Technology Specialist.

Re: Qos for webcasts

thank you very much for your help, this already cleared my mind, but where exactly have this option? because as you can see in the picture, there is no such option, thank you. The reason you are not seeing the option to disable the wifi is because your CDOL role is not set to the Technology Special...

Re: VNC Needed- how to open a port in the firewall?

Those ports are closed on purpose by church policy. They will not be opened up as it is a security vulnerability. We also do not do custom configurations for a specific building. Even if it was fine to open up those ports, we wouldn't as it would put your firewall on a custom configuration. Also, an...

Re: Firewall Upgrade Feedback

Just to reiterate what was said, the FM group would go in port 0-1 (and 2 if there isn't an official family history center). Being on the ports 0-1 will not hinder their access to the equipment that they need. Port 2 does connect to the VPN, but it does not give them the access they need for their d...

Re: LDS.org not working inside firewall

Craig, In your situation it looks like your request was getting to lds.org just fine. Quick question, were you doing your trace using lds.org or www.lds.org? www.lds.org goes through the akamai servers were lds.org doesn't. lds.org redirects to www.lds.org by default so if the trace to www.lds.org f...

Re: Meetinghouse Firewall Upgrade Available to FMs/STSs

Good to know. Is there any list that would indicate what "FM Devices" should be in which zone? Hopefully FM knows that and adds them accordingly (but I wouldn't bet on it), but it would still be good if the STS knows which is which. There isn't but if there were it would be very small. Al...

Re: LDSAccess is limited

We have had reports of some windows 8 laptops having problems connecting to LDSAccess (and campus wifi as well). We don't know of a solution yet. My theory is that there is an incompatibility between your wireless NIC/card and the cisco access points that we use. I do not have any more details other...

Re: Meetinghouse Firewall Upgrade Available to FMs/STSs

I doubt if FM will be able to access anything on Port 0 or 1 unless they are in the building - that's because that range is the same for every building - there's no way for someone outside to specify an IP and get routed to the right building. If it wasn't on port 3 before, or if the port 3 range g...
