Re: Ward Missionary Donations

The $400 a month goes for your Missionaries room and board and these are not tax deductible and shouldn't be. That's why unless you want to help support a specific Mssionary you should you should donate to the ward missionary fund which is tax deductible. Without getting into the nuances of US tax ...

Re: Audit recovery of data

As a last ditch effort, you can see if the browser has remembered the entries in the forms. Go into each entry location, and press the down arrow to choose the last-entered information.

This just encourages me to bring my own laptop for each audit.

Re: Second leader expense approval

Are there any instructions as to how large the sample size should be? You check for the signatures on all of the checks you are testing. The ward audit calls for at least 18 payment transactions, including payments, fast offering assistance, automatic charges, and large or unusual payments. The sig...

Re: Second leader expense approval

who signed the check isn't recorded anywhere that I can review anyway You are also required to verify appropriate signatures on a sampling of cancelled checks using the LCR Finance application. Second leader expense approval

In the mid-year audit, I found this curious statement under the instructions for "Payments" (Just before questions 16-20): "Church policy requires that the bishop and at least one other leader review each expense or reimbursement request and give approval." When I'm auditing, I'm...

Re: collecting funds for scout camp

Can auxiliary leaders collect checks for camp, i.e. girls, scouts, cub, camps? 1. checks must be made out to church. 2. checks handed to a member of the bishopric I think there's an argument to be made that the answer is "Yes, but they shouldn't. " HB1 14.4 uses the term "tithing and...

Re: Donation Question

Our ward's full-time missionaries recently did a service project and the people they helped gave them a donation. The missionaries would like to donate that money to our ward's mission fund; however, the check was made out to "LDS Missionary Fund". I'm pretty sure our ward can't include t...

Audit - new bishopric

I'm going to be auditing a ward where the bishop was called last week. When I meet with him and the finance clerk, what basis does the new bishop have for answering the first 14 questions of the audit? Is it okay if he just answers "as far as I know" when it comes to things like two author...

Re: Release of new budget funds

January, April, July, and October. The budget comes from the quarterly reports (so make sure they're sent in!), albeit with a 1-quarter lag. That is, your attendance figures in December (representing 4th Quarter of the previous year) will affect your budget disbursement in April.

Re: LDS.org in wrong language

German, French, Spanish, Italian, Turkish, and Arabian are confirmed to work, but changing the language to English in the URL redirects to =spa. Using the "Area-language" feature allows me to change my area to North American - Caribbean (English), but simply trying to change the language re...
