Re: Fast internet upload speed test - but slow Teradek encode rate???

@CalS201 Thanks for the feedback. I will continue to test with all of this in mind. @russellhltn Your comment about overheating really caught my attention. We have 2 Teradeks, and both of them consistently run super hot. So I just figured this was normal for this device. We always prop it up so it g...

Re: Fast internet upload speed test - but slow Teradek encode rate???

I think you're right about the webcast system doing some adjustments to conserve bandwidth. For instance, when I am broadcasting a black screen, the encode rate goes down to around 30Kbps, so there is definitely some content-related adjustment going on. However, in general, while broadcasting video,...

Noise gate in chapel sound system sounds terrible over broadcasts

For our sacrament broadcasts, we are pulling the audio feed directly from the chapel system. But the noise gate built into the chapel system frankly wreaks havoc on our musical numbers, as the audio cuts in and out during soft and dynamic passages. This has long been an annoyance of mine, but is gen...

Re: Fast internet upload speed test - but slow Teradek encode rate???

@winjesluck Definitely not the camera, as that is what motivated this exercise. We just got upgraded to new HD camera and building system, and the video looks fantastic locally. So now we are wanting to translate some of this newfound video quality to our broadcasts. @russellhltn Thanks for the sugg...

Re: Fast internet upload speed test - but slow Teradek encode rate???

A few more details- I am setting the target bitrate to 2.5Mbps or 1.4Mbps. And have also tried using the “adaptive bitrate” option. I’ve tried setting bitrate options both on the Meetinghouse webcast side and directly in the Teradek console. Results are the same no matter what-it can’t seem to do mu...

Fast internet upload speed test - but slow Teradek encode rate???

I have been trying to increase the video quality of our broadcasts with little success. When I run internet speed tests I consistently get 10Mbps or more upload. When I run the built in speed test on the Teradek it recommends 5Mbps encode setting. But when I run a broadcast through Meetinghouse Webc...

Re: MH Webcast to address COVID-19 restrictions?

Absolutely, I understand that is the general policy. My point was that given the extreme and unprecedented situation, that some temporary exception is probably in order. The way I read it, the letter from the first presidency would suggest this is the case, but no detail is given (yet, as far as I k...

MH Webcast to address COVID-19 restrictions?

I'm trying to find out if it would be appropriate to use the MH Webcast system to help avoid large church meetings as directed. My stake presidency is asking me about options for cases where meetings may be necessary. The primary concern is funerals, since these cannot be cancelled or postponed, and...

Re: Webcast without a receiving building?

OK, thanks for the feedback. @russellhltn that quote from the handbook is more direct. The verbiage in the "Webcast Policies" page here: https://www.lds.org/help/support/webcast-policies-and-guidelines?lang=eng seems more ambiguous to me, which is why I wasn't sure. I'll talk to the stake ...

Webcast without a receiving building?

I was just asked to broadcast a Christmas program this Sunday. This is a ward event, but was requested by the Stake President due to some special circumstances. However, it would not be a building-to-building broadcast, it would be intended to allow some members to view the program that cannot atten...
