A commentator on my blog raised the following concern, similar to that of mkmurray: Another potential problem for the church is lack of control over context. Unscrupulous or antagonistic site owners could do damage with this kind of access: - a parody plays after the real deal - an anti-mormon site ...

Tom,

Glad to hear that similar ideas are being bounced around internally. I'd be happy to contribute if I can.

No Need for thorough policies, just a simple disclaimer

I imagine there would have to be pretty thorough policies around the embedding of the content into your own personal site. It would have to be clear that the hosting site is not actually representing the Church in an official way. I don't think it would require the creation of any significant polic...

Distributable, Embeddable Content from Mormon.org

I was watching the videos on the new mormon.org website and had an idea that I I hope that the church web department, and the members of this forum will consider and support. The "user created content" aspect of web 2.0 has received a lot of attention. This forum is a great example of how the church...

Tom, I program in PHP5 all day long for my job and, although i don't have a lot of extra time, I would like to contribute as my time permits. If I can be given access to the SVN repository and be included in the conversations surrounding the project, I would be happy to help out as I am able. Are yo...

Side-by-side Polyglot Scriptures and UTF-8

Thanks for a demonstration of the concept. It would be great if this kind of side-by-side polyglot scripture reading could be built right into scriptures.lds.org. One of the difficulties of using frames is that it is hard to make them scroll simultaneously so that you are looking at the same verses ...

To follow up with mkmurray's suggestion: Click on the "User CP" link in the menu at the top of the forum (CP stands for "Control Panel"). In the menu at the left of the User Control Panel, under the "Settings & Options" section click on the "Edit Options" link. In the Edit Options section scroll dow...

Search Autodiscovery for church websites

Both Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox 2 feature convenient built-in search boxes. Additional engines can be easily added to the list of searches accessible from these boxes. Just as both browsers support RSS feed autodiscovery and subscription, they also support autodiscovery of Search Engines that c...

I've been working on a similar concept, with individual and social scripture tagging and marking groups. I think it has a lot of potential for allowing people to share the scriptures.

Sorry

I realize that my earlier post in this thread probably violates the proscription on "religious discussion" put forth in the new Code of Conduct. I'm sorry if I have contributed to the problem. Feel free to delete my previous comment. Thanks.
