Explain it in simple terms. Any stake president is savvy enough to understand that if only 15 folks can log onto a network, when number 16 comes along, even if it is the stake computer doing the broadcast, it will have to wait until one of the first 15 log off. He may not understand why, but he wil...

The Church rarely gives out information on when new features can be expected. When they do, there are frequently delays beyond the expected time frame. All I can say is do the best you can until it does come. I guess on the surface, when I first heard of the coming plans for the member login, it se...

I attended that same training, and although I would agree somewhat with your conclusion, I saw the direction as future plans, not immediate implementation instructions. Specifically, although the long-term plans are for making "LDS.org materials available to all," that same meeting discus...

Let me preface this comment by stating that I am not the technology specialist and do not understand the restrictions that any existing firewall may have. Our building does have wireless. Currently leadership actively uses it and the FHC and clerks offices all use a wireless adaptor rather than a h...

This is my very last post here on this subject. We can all choose to beat this poor horse until it has no hair left so to speak. IMEO... ALL church technology equipment must be installed, configured and maintained as the church guidelines and instructions dictate. For those of us who have the IT cal...

It actually was... because they had to remove the SN# of that unit from their database as I activated another(2nd) one I had for a spare.

I am not against cautioning others of a potential failure mode. I would also agree that if port 0 is not needed then don't. But if it is needed why block it? While there may be a remote chance that the device did fail I would be more inclined to think someone pushed the reset button. Have you ever ...

I suppose it's possible for reasons unknown for a device to decide to do a hard reboot. Not supposed to happen, but that's not the same as "never". I've been around electronics too long to say "never". If port 0 is not connected, then no one can fool with the device before compe...

I wish that were the case..RE:881W

I guess another point I was hoping to make, let's forget about people doing things they should not do. I have totally abandoned all hope here for reasons that are not appropriate for me to put on here. This will never be anything I can do anything about (tampering). So here is the other point....if ...

port "0"

I'm trying to remember what happened to me. Instead of reading the instructions, I tried to wing it. I think I ended up with limited connectivity or something until I went back and did it right. What's the significance of port "0"? Aren't the ports just a switch and you'd end up in the sa...
