It is still only available to members in some temple districts. Not yet for everyone else.

Where is LUWS policy letter?
I know that the policy has been discussed on this tech forum that local units aren't supposed to create their own websites aside from the LUWS on lds.org. I personally have read the letter, I think dated sometime mid to late 2003, which is signed by the Presiding Bishopric. There was an earlier one ...

typo in the agreement?
This may be a little nit-picky, but since it's a legal agreement, thought I would mention it. Seems like a typo in the last few words of Section 2: Shouldn't it say "on terms more restrictive *than* the terms of this Agreement." instead of "on terms more restrictive *that* the terms of this Agreemen...

honest opinion
In case nobody noticed, the originator of this thread, Joel Dehlin, is the Church CIO. This wasn't some half-baked idea from the rank and file. This was tossed out as a Open Source project, and yet none of the responses seem to run with it. Like Kathryn, I also recognized that the idea was presente...

I prefer low-tech for most things
Another chalange with keeping the unit site up to date is the hasle of comunicating every thing through one Unit Web Site Specialist (UWSS). If we provided pages for each quorum, class, auxiliary, committee, or organization, then we could also have callings with in each for maintaining their page. ...

Plenty of material
There is already more material in the lesson manuals than can be covered in a single lesson, and even the manuals say not to try to cover it all (not to mention the recent training). It seems that we are periodically reminded that we should be sticking to approved materials (the lesson manuals, scri...

Site Map
If a site map is created, an AJAX-like interface would be nice to allow such a detailed map to not be too unwieldy to traverse or interact with. To me that seems like it would defeat the purpose... then the site map would just be like another set of menus that you have to traverse. I think the most...

I have problems finding things on the site, too, even though I would consider myself fairly familiar with it. My suggestion would be to add a detailed "site map" feature. The A-Z index is not all that useful because you have to know what something is listed as to find it. The menus are hard to navig...

NFS shouldn't allow gedcom uploads
Some people may not like to hear this, but to be honest, I think the best way to handle the massive duplicates that we are otherwise going to see when I (and each of my many relatives, and anyone else who connects into my line of ancestors) upload a gedcom file into the New FamilySearch, is to NOT a...
