Re: Charitable Cash Contributions

Also, if the student has moved out of our ward we should just mail it to their new address? The US postal service will forward 1st class mail for up to one year. If you can't find the new address, mail the documents to their last known address. If the letter is returned, keep it in your files for t...

Excess other funds, HQ won't cash the check

Several years ago, our Stake Relief Society solicited donations for a humanitarian project. They did not spend all that was donated. The Stake President gave them a deadline of Dec. 31st last year to spend it, or we would forward to HQ as unspent funds. The check was sent to HQ the first week of Jan...

Re: Policy on welfare covering a refundable deposit

Thanks lajackson. I'd found that reference in HB1. I'm looking for a very specific statement I remember seeing after an auditor dinged a ward a few years ago after the Bishop paid a deposit. I'm wondering if the phrasing was altered in a recent edition of Handbook 1, and we are enforcing a policy in...

Policy on welfare covering a refundable deposit

I'm looking for a source document I've previously seen concerning fast offering assistance paying for a utilities deposit that may eventually be refundable to the member. I thought it was in Handbook 1, but I can't find that policy in the current online version. The general gist of the policy was to...

MLS Feature Request?

The expense summary report lists the remaining budget. Since this report also details expenses from the Other account, could we get it to also report the total remaining Other balance? My stake doesn't usually keep much in Other funds, but in paying some camp expenses while awaiting assessments from...

Re: Best Fundraising Ideas

Flag fundraisers, on the surface appear to be an easy money maker. However, undue burdern usually falls on one or two scout leaders who give up every holiday. Unless the youth and their parents are willing to contribute, I do not recomend this fundraiser.

Re: Add Stake Auditor : any particular process ?

It should be noted that an Auditor is not a "calling," and is not sustained or set apart. Serving as an auditor is an assignment that requires access privilges in MLS. The only way to grant that access is to add the individual in a standard calling on the stake MLS computer. The general ha...

Re: Transfer Year-end balance to new year

When I was a ward clerk, my bishop was the agent bishop for the building. After trying to use a budget subcategory unsuccessfully, I realized this type of situation was perfect for an Other account. Multi unit expenses are all paid out of an Other account, and each participating unit (including my o...

Re: Budget Allocation disbursement methods

I should probally clarify. When I say, "loose it," I mean loose future deposits. In my stake, units that build up a reserve of unspent budget funds will receive reduced allocations until they begin spending at acceptable levels. I've referred more than one bishop to the parable of the tale...
