Re: Debate: Controls for Other Account Creation ?

The previous stake auditor was very adamant that the life of an Other account was measured in weeks. While I don't necessarily agree with his strict definition of "temporary," I have benefited from very few lingering subcategories in the Other account stake wide. We typically allow the uni...

Re: Debate: Controls for Other Account Creation ?

I've been able to keep the Other accounts under control just by sending out a reminder every December and June about clearing out these funds prior to the end of the audit period. I let the clerks know if they need help determining where funds should go, I'm available. It's a lot eaiser to fix these...

Re: Budget Allocation disbursement methods

My stake has adopted a use it or loose it policy when it comes to budget allocations. When CUBS was first implemented, my stake president wanted to fully fund wards - especially youth programs. It was decided to take 25% of the sacrament meeting funds from each unit for the stake. This kept extra fu...

Re: tithing settlement sign up.

I'll add a further suggestion. After your bishop sets Tithing Settlement dates, only post the first couple of dates' signup sheets. As they fill up, add additional dates and remove the complete ones. When I was a ward clerk, we found this practice ensured blocks were full of appointments.

Re: Can ward checks for the Stake be handed to Stake clerks?

I think it is appropriate to point out that in a properly budgeted stake, it would be a rare exception for a ward to cut a check to the stake. Ideally under CUBS, the stake should budget for and retain funds from the ward and branch quarterly allocations to administer any authorized programs paid fo...

Re: Successful fundraisers for youth camps

My stake frequently has the scouts offer holiday flag service. For about $35/year, scouts post a flag on a 6 ft. pole in front of a participates home on Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independance Day, Labor Day, & Veterans Day. On the downside, it means scout leaders must always be ava...

When should the Projected Quarterly Budget Allowance for 1Q13 be coming out? In the past we would receive a guesstimate a full month before the start of the next quarter but nothing so far this year. Delayed or discontinued? You're quarterly budget allotment is based on attendance figures from two ...

You may be in the same region as I am. Our regional audtior was our former stake auditor. He frequently attempts to apply policies he followed in his professional career to church audits. I've dealt with it for years. I've used the example of a Young Men's leader who bought ice cream after scouts as...
