The MLS hard coded definition is correct. But it just is not complete in most cases, and therefore becomes meaningless for normal use. Because of that, we use the custom reports function of MLS for our Scouting needs. We've found the Boy Scouts organization helpful to track adult scout callings. Fo...

MLS suggestions on the Wiki

I think the Wiki started some time ago is a great way to consolidate the various requests for MLS features (including bug reports). As others have done, I've taken the time on several occasions to include what I feel would be beneficial to many clerks and ward members. Does anyone happen to know if ...

...The MLS JRE is copied to a location separate from all other JREs to ensure of non-interference with other installations. MLS is currently developed to use only the JRE it has installed and not the registered JRE... Let me clarify the behavior I observed today. A JRE did not exist in c:\Program F...

MLS compatibility problem with Java 6 update 12

On my test machine, I have JRE6 version 1 installed in C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_01 (pretty obvious from the folder name) and I have JRE6 version 11 installed in C:\Program Files\jre6. The version 1 in the Java folder was something I installed explicitly several months ago (I don't have automa...

I'll agree that two instances of javaw.exe isn't normal, but that's what I see in Task Manager if I don't use my work-around and MLS has problems during or after reopening. One idea regarding the extra instance of javaw.exe -- you might want to check a setting in the Java Control Panel: Start > Con...

I believe jdlessley already addressed your first point earlier in the thread -- MLS definitely uses its own JRE in C:\Program Files\jre6. In the case of our ward computer, the JRE in use by MLS is installed in Program Files\ Java \jre6 . The Java subfolder is the default location created by the Jav...

I am not certain but I think the version of Java MLS 2.9.3 uses is located at C:\Program Files\jre6\bin which is 6.0.110.3. When I installed the latest Java version 6.0.120.4 it was installed at C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin and then updated the executable in the C:\Windows\system32 directory whic...

I think the wikis are great for consolidating the feature requests and reporting of bugs. I'm wondering how often the bug report sections are reviewed -- the latest update to MLS (2.9.2) does not appear to address any reported bugs in the wiki (or perhaps they haven't been noted as fixed in the wiki).

I'm wondering if the problem would possibly go away if MLS only allowed members to be the H of H (which is the way I would prefer it - or at least allow the option to have a female member with a nonmember spouse be the H of H). Let's not forget the homes where only the children are members (the par...

We've also noticed that the member spouse often shows up as "other" rather than "spouse" in various screens in MLS. So there is another *BUG* somewhere in MLS related to nonmember spouses. Lastly, we're having difficulty deleting some nonmember records once they've been added. I've seen these same ...
