Some stuffy clerk with no appreciation for exactness is responsible for your church record. It's not even reflective of your current church record; it's a few weeks old. If your ward clerk has "no appreciation for exactness", he needs to be replaced. Talk to your bishop. My experience is that the v...

Computer shutdown policy

I recall seeing a policy statement from some years ago when I was an STS, that all administrative computers were to shut down (powered off) when not in use. I have searched high and low for a copy of this policy and cannot find it. What has spurred the search is repeated calls from one of our FM tec...

Chadf, are you saying that MLS will soon allow separate phone numbers and email addresses for different members of a family? I have been begging for this since the first release of MLS that was forced on us. The next step that is needed is to sync email addresses between MLS and the Ward and Stake ...

Last I looked, it was only Channel 1 of 802.11B. All other channels have parts that go outside of the Amateur Radio allocation. I'd also question whether or not Amateur Radio can legally be used for Church "business". Emergency Communications, yes. Stake Conference - highly questionable. The Ham ba...

One of the problems that has caused a great slowdown with the installation of Desktop 5.5 is that now with LANdesk and Norton loading on startup, you are out of physical memory before you ever load an application. The default Church computers only come with 256M of memory. If you take a look at the ...

I am also a ward website administrator, newly called. One of the problems I've run into (so far) is that people have forgotten passwords or user names, and no one here knows how to restore them. I get referred to someone at the stake level, who refers me to someone in SLC, who says I should have th...

In the ward where I was clerk before being called as stake clerk, I had at least one family a month change from a home landline phone to individual cell phones. The email address is also a severe problem. We run the range from the parents of a family being totally computer illiterate to families whe...
