Why don't you send a message to every email address you have for registered members of the ward and stake web sites? Because our stake no longer attempts use of that feature. A very small percentage of the members ever bothered to register in the first place, and of those that did, a very high perc...

I don't think we need to be overly fancy or sophisticated. All we need to do with is is merely invite some people to visit this website, and pass word along to whoever else they feel may be interested to do the same. Let it be up to local leaders if/how they wish to pass word along.

At least in theory, it would be easy to get the data out of the receiver. The new Church satellite receivers are Wegener Unity 500s. The User's Manual downloadable from Wegener shows an RS232 port on an RJ-12 connector and an option for an ethernet connector, appears to be an RJ-45. (In earlier yea...

I just don't like to see us paint ourselves into the corner on occasion and then hear that it is too difficult to get ourselves out, when a little more planning ahead could avoid such problems. Architecture SHOULD always be changing, and for the better. I would say that the architecture we implement...

Cool. How did you get the initial list of addresses? All by hand, or were you able to get a list from the Post Office or something? It is easy to do by hand. With your first pass through the neighborhood, just get a pocket size notebook to write in. Write the neighborhood and name of the street at ...

To date, I don't think MLS has been used to distribute information beyond the clerks. I think it's a good idea to distribute to the units and ask for bulletin board space, I just question the use of MLS to distribute that information. Well the capability is there. Why not use it? It certainly is mu...

Depending on the decoder used, that may not be hard. Simply tag the information with the Stake's unit number. Indeed. I recall through the 90's when my family had a big 10 ft analog C-Band dish. There was some sort of feature as part of the VideoCipher decoder box that would receive "messages&...

Actually these types of discussions should not be part of this forum as our charter for the forums is to discuss technology issues that involve the Church and not policy. I really admire your passion and drive and desire to do the right thing for the right purpose. The leadership of the Church shar...

Can you shed any light on why? I was surprised to see that as I've never heard of any ward or stake that use their machines for any photo-related tasks. Is this a preview of something to come? I have no idea where it came from, but we found a legit copy of Publisher 97 laying around. Might be old, ...

Oh, I didn't see this thread when I posted a reply to the one in which you announced the goal itself. I would suggest sending it in a "Tip of the Week" announcement to all the MLS computers, inviting any geeks out there to check out this website. Perhaps you could put a note at the bottom ...
