K9 works good but requires installation and maintenance on individual machines. OpenDNS has a nice online interface but changes have some lag and it only protects your network. MobiCip for iPhones works well. Unfortunately, Apple does not make any provisions for replacing your default browser so the...

Are you willing to share your perl script? I would find that useful.

Occupancy capacity sign requirements vary from state to state and may or may not be present. Like others, I would be interested in knowing the original poster's need for such a number. Correct. We didn't have them until our recent remodel. They were required as part of that project. We now have a M...

Short of that there items could be stored in the clerks office ether in a file cabinet or in one of the cabinets above the clerks desk. The clerk's office is (in my opinion) NOT the place to store any non clerk related materials. In my ward the organizations never looked to see what was there and a...

How do you find the seating capacity of your building? I agree with aebrown, the reason for your request would be helpful. For example, a room capacity as defined by a fire marshall can be different from actual seating capacity. The one is how many people you safely and legally have in the room. Th...

In a recent training the Bishop's of our stake were instructed by our regional authorities that the number 1 rule when processing donations is to get the batch to the bank. To that end, I agree with lajackson. It will probably result in a returned check. I would imagine the process would then be sim...

It is surprising to me that the Ward Clerk does not have access to the Focus List. As the Ward Clerk for my ward I maintain the list. This seems like it would be a nice tool to use.

I've heard of two stakes (one is where a good friend lives) where members are not permitted to use electronics at all. Apparently the stake presidents felt strongly that electronics were a significant distraction, and so the members in those stakes use good old paper for scriptures and lesson manua...

I do not think the Stake should be able to add to Ward Calendars by default. I would suggest giving the ward the ability to add someone from the stake as a calendar admin. This would leave the administration of the calendars in the ward. I would prefer to see an option for members of the ward and st...

does any one know of any good programs that would allow me to download all the windows updates to a DVD so I don't have to wait for the actual downloads over the internet as this will speed things up. I used a similar tool a few years ago; though, I'm not sure if it is the same one or not. Take a l...
