Re: Turn Off the WiFi

You can do a fair amount on the firewall side. Its not perfect, but it helps. I used to work with a bunch of libraries and throttling made it so that even libraries with a lot of kids online (playing games like Minecraft or watching videos) could still do core functionality (checking out books, plac...

Re: What is being looked at by the broadcasting STS when broadcasting?

Camera and audio quality first here, then the stats page (mainly if things are quiet or someone is having a problem). For stats, I look at: Playback Bitrate CPU Load% CPU Player Load Buffering FPS Dropped FPS Decoded We have enough bandwidth that I keep a stream going on my laptop so I can make sure...

Receive only test "this event has not yet started" error for "General Membership" viewers

We have a multi stake fireside broadcast coming up this week (an evening fireside on a weeknight for youth) so we will be webcasting it rather than having everyone drive in. The plan is to have the units outside of our stake use the "General Membership event code" to view it (I found about...

Re: Turn Off the WiFi

Would it be possible to stop messing around with turning off wifi and put some rules in the firewalls along the lines of: Traffic going to the webcast servers (ie: portal.ldswebcast.org and mhw*.cloudapp.net gets Priority 1 Traffic going to MLS servers (or other clerk related sites) gets Priority 2 ...

Re: EVI-D80 Camera Controller

Yes, I could do that. If your joystick twists, that is already set for zoom. I tried that, it does not twist. Thinking more about it, I might just pickup a gamepad (Looks like a PS2ish clone is under $20 on Amazon) as I can see having some issues with bumping the zoom accidentally. If anyone is loo...

Upcoming webcast, anything to change?

We have a new storehouse that will be dedicated next month. We will be webcasting the dedication to the Stake Center as overflow and encoding it with a Vidu that worked well in Nov. Anything I should be doing to make sure everything is ready to go? Can I now update the Vidu to the latest version? Th...

Re: EVI-D80 Camera Controller

Since my last post I have continued to make improvements to the software and we used it at our Stake Conference. It worked adequately, but I didn't like the effort needed to control the PTZ and rates at the same time. Therefore, I added joystick/gamepad integration and I really like it now. It's st...

Re: What to do when the Portal is down

Would it be possible to have a "one click" button to export the information for all the sites on that event? IE: "Click here to download all the URLs, sites and assistants as a CSV" Then the CSV could then be emailed out to the Bishops, Branch Presidents, etc and it would take 30...

Re: What to do when the Portal is down

We email the bishops and branch presidents the unit links, less hassle for them to try to login that way vs using the portal.
We generally also make it public, not many people know about the portal, so we haven't run into any issues with too many people.

Re: Recommended Composite to HDMI scaler

We used the Startech for the last conference and it worked great (much better than their VGA to HDMI one we tested did).
