Gospel Library for Android -- Beta Version 2.0

#41

Post by kjpearce »

[font=&quot]I have downloaded a beta version of Gospel Library for Android (beta version 2.0) and installed in on an Android 2.2 OS device (HTC Evo). I have two questions

1. While one can choose content to download, there does not seem to be a mechanism to uninstall content -- I assume that will be addressed when the actual version 2.0 is released?

2. The content manager appears to allow a selection of language for the content - English, German & Spanish. However, when I select German and then select Download, nothing seems to happen. Does that meant the German content is not actually out on the server?

This is for android 3.0 honeycomb. 2.2 should run the marketplace app no problem.

We were hoping that people might recognize the standard properties selection icon on the right side (see the arrow inside the circle). This is a standard on iPhone and I have seen it a few times on Android applications. When you tap on that it displays a dialog that allows you to delete the content.

I am also working on fixing the content services to include all of the content including file sizes and descriptions.

I would love to hear more comments.

Wifi Xoom - need help

#44

Post by LauraKBoyd »

I'm still struggling to get it to work. I downloaded the market app. Followed the instructions, used Astro file explorer to rifle around both the root and the other path. I didn't find any lingering folders. So I took a shot installing from the link, with no success. Then did a factory reset and tried to install from the download link. I am still getting that same error 'The application Gospel Library (proces....) has stopped unexpectedly. Any ideas?
Thanks-

I'm having the same issue with my wifi Xoom. I installed the beta app without ever installing the version from the market.
I've heard of other apps that work fine on 3g+wifi models but only force close on wifi only models.

I am having the same problem with my wifi only Xoom. I can install the beta just fine but get a force close immediately after clicking on the icon. I also use a few different file managers to look for the folder to delete and could not find it anywhere.

I still cannot get it to install on my WIFI Xoom. Also, when I go and look for the files I cannot find them. It creates the icon, but it doesn't appear to install any files. I would be happy to test any beta's out.

Oh, I wanted to add, as a stopgap until the official church one works, Reveal have updated their app to work on the wifi Xoom. Install that, then eBook download in the app and get all your scriptures. The interface is horrible compared to the church one.

Updated build. - wifi only Xoom

#49

Post by BrumfieldAD »

Please try running this build on the wifi only Xoom and report back if you have success. With the same caveats as my last post.

-This is beta and will change.
-You will probably lose any annotations you make in this version.
-There is no support for migration between pre release versions.
-You will have to manually delete all your content when you install another beta or the final release.

If you are comfortable with these caveats then please download and give us feedback with any problems you find.

1. Manually delete any versions you have previously installed including the one currently available in the market.
2. Connect your device to a computer or use a file browser application and manually delete the Gospel-Library folder on the root of the filesystem (for xoom) or /mnt/sdcard/gospel-library for other devices.
3. Now you can download the apk here and install it.

Please report issues to our project Jira.
