Sideloaded LDS Tools not syncing anymore

In the last month or so I can no longer sync LDS Tools on either my BlackBerry PlayBook or My Z10. It authenticates okay then says it is syncing the stake data then as soon as it shows my ward being synced it says "The connection was lost. Please try again later." It is the same message from both devices. Has anyone else seen this? It had been working just fine... could it be due to a server side update?

Syncing seems to work fine on other devices – it must be either a problem with the Blackberry version of the app, or your network connection. I assume the process of connecting to the church's server should be the same for any version of the app...

I have this same problem as well on my playbook and Z10. It was actually attempted to sync. It recognized my credential authentication, Stake positions and when it attempted to sync my ward household info it got that error message. It had been working just fine as well before. Something (could be a mapping structure changes) must've changed somewhere on the server side. Someone in the development team needs to have it check.

This is the project page for Gospel Library for Blackberry:
https://tech.lds.org/projects?controlle ... ojectid=14
I'd suggest joining and sending a message to the discussion group or one of the project managers...

Thank you for sharing the link. But I think we need the LDS Tools project page instead of the Gospel Library. Would you mind providing one for it?

Thanks.

It should be noted that this is basically the android port, not really old school BBOS. So I doubt the BBOS LDS Tools project will offer any help. And since this is for BlackBerry, the android group probably won't help either...

If it happened on either one of the devices and not both, I'd think it is due to the device, but as it affects both the PlayBook and Z10 I am more inclined to think it is a "problem" or a change to the Server. I have thought that it may be due to an outdated version of the app, but you wouldn't think the church would cut off people using older devices and older versions of the app.

As of this day, 13 August 2013 it still does not work.

My next step will be to try loaded BB10.2 OS and try an android 4.2.2 version of the app...

Got the same error tonight. Deleted it reinstalled through chrome and got the same error message. Bought my wife an IP5 great app but I can't stand the phone. When is 10.2 getting to BB10? And hopefully the Church will make a native app for BB10. They have the resources... Looking for the most updated BAR files for LDS Tools, Gospel Library and Mormon Channel. Thanks.

I know that many people assume that the Church has abundant development resources, but that is not the case. Progress on Android tools (with a market share several times as large as BlackBerry) is slower than many people hope, which is also true of Windows 8 apps. If the Church doesn't have the resources to keep those market segments happy, I doubt that BlackBerry with its declining market share would be considered worthy of significant development efforts.

That's not an official position -- just my observations based on experience and a few comments from Church employees over the years. I'm sure that's not what you want to hear....
