Email All Adults

Post by geekiemommie »

Hello!

When you go to the Ward Directory -- Ward Organizations -- Adults -- Click on "Email all Adults", what is it exactly pulling from? I thought it would give me all the adults' email addresses, so I can copy them, but apparently it doesn't pull all of them.

Here is an example of someone that isn't receiving the ward emails that I send through this method:

Maybe her record is setup wrong?

Thanks for your time and help!

I removed the image you included in your message. There was enough personal information visible there to uniquely identify the member in question with a Google search.

The most likely reason that she isn't being included in the output is because her email address has been marked as private. I can see email addresses in the directory that are marked private (I am in a bishopric), but they aren't included in the list when I select "Email add Adults."

If that is the case, the fact that you're seeing the email address at all may be a bug.

I thought I had crossed off enough info to be safe, but thanks!

I'm sure it's not marked private, otherwise I wouldn't be able to see it. I have no special permissions in lds.org.

I'm thinking it's something to do with her email address being listed just under her, but not under the whole household? Although that shouldn't make sense either.

Some functions don't work properly if permissions are set set to anything but "stake". It's possible it's set to "ward" - which would allow you to see it, but might prevent it from working for "All Adults".

My understanding is the permissions evolved from "Private yes/no" to "leadership/ward/stake". Some of the older code treats "ward" as "private - yes". Consequently, you see strange things like that.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

So we can better help you, please edit your Profile to include your general location.

I believe all the systems referring to the old yes/no privacy have been updated now.

slightly different topic, but i have used this feature several times a month for two years as ward employment specialist, as recently as 13apr2016. but today i notice that the "email all adults" button is no longer there, with only the "print" button showing. is this a temporary glitch or an unfortunate change?
