Changing a photo on behalf of another member

Postby CharKay » Tue Nov 19, 2019 7:26 pm

As the website administrator for my ward, it seems like, with all the new updates to the site, my calling has become just a name only.

It has been requested of me to change a photo for a senior member of my ward who is not internet savvy. His ex-wife was or knew someone who was and he has been divorced from her for two years now. I seem to remember having the ability to do this when I was first called back in 2015. Can I still do it? There's nothing on the site that I can find for "website administrators" calling tutorials.

Someone else on the forum may know for sure, but I don't think the "website administrator" calling has the ability to manage photos any longer. If the member is unable to do it themselves, the ward clerk or a member of the bishopric should be able to assist them.

No, that ability has been moved to LCR and is only available to clerks, bishopric members and the executive secretary. You'll have to ask one of them to make the change.

The role of website administrator really doesn't exist anymore at least as far as official church tools. The only thing it does now is make the person a default administrator on the calendar.

As far as I know, Website Administrator is indistinguishable from Ward Calendar Administrator. I think that's the only power the website admin has left. I have yet to see anyone claim otherwise. (And on this forum, erroneous statements usually gets called out.)

"The role of website administrator really doesn't exist anymore at least as far as official church tools. The only thing it does now is make the person a default administrator on the calendar."

This is incorrect. The calling is still listed as a standard calling. In addition, the Help Center still lists the calling as having access: https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/hel ... s?lang=eng

Additional information: https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/hel ... s?lang=eng

the real problem is that the directory group only works via the Feedback system and many, many feedback links are broken, including the ones on the two links above. Calling into support will get you nowhere. All you can do is find a feedback link that works and submit the issue.

If anyone has a documented update, I would love to hear it.

Both of those links were last updated 31 October 2016. Since then, the directory has been replaced with the "Ward Directory and Map". And I think that was before the documentation team was let go (explaining why it's so far out of date).

It appears to me there's no functional difference between website administrator and calendar administrator. The only question is if it's intentional or not.

The problems with feedback is probably related to other issues plaguing the system for the past week or so.

Thanks for the comments on the Directory. It is very sad that there is so little support and out-dated information. IT make it very hard to magnify a calling when we just keep chasing our technical tails.

While the documentation may be out of date, the calling is still active in LCR and assignable as a standard calling. So if the documentation is out of date, so is the list of standard callings.....
