spot locator and permissions

#1

Post by csw14086 »

One of our ward clerks has members in his ward listed with correct addresses, but the "spot" on the map marking where the couple reside does not correspond with their correct address. In actuality, it shows them outside the stake boundaries miles and miles away from their residence.

In another instance, there are individuals showing in the permissions list that don't live in the ward. One is a former bishop who was released and moved away a couple of years ago. It doesn't show him having access to anything, but he is on the list. Is there a way to clear them?

Also, a clerk wonders about Stake permissions showing there, i.e. 'stk pres' and 'stk admin.' Is there an actual name to be assigned against those or might it be a remnant of someone who previously held the calling?

Lastly, who from the stake should have access to the wards' MLS?

Any help you can provide would be great. Thanks so much.

Those "spots" are household location markers. The verification status of each household is displayed in the the directory list on the left side of the page in the Maps program using icons. The status of a household is either "verified" (no directory icon), "approximately verified" (double tilde on yellow background), "member verified" (black head and shoulders on blue background), "unverified" (black exclamation on yellow triangle), or "unmapped household" (yellow dots in a circle). When a household is clicked in the directory listing, the information and location status is shown on the map. If you have move and verify rights then you can move and verify the household location.

Bishoprics, clerks, and executive secretaries have the user rights to move and verify the location marker of a household. Additionally adult members of the household can also move and "member verify" the household location. The verification process is described in the Maps Help Correcting Information Found in LDS Maps.

To what permission list are you referring? I ask since there is no permission list for LDS Maps. If you are referring to the MLS user accounts then I recommend posting in MLS Support, Help, and Feedback forum. Continuing the discussion here is in violation of the Code of Conduct which states "Stay on topic; keep the content of the site clear and concise." It also states "Use the correct forum for the material you are posting" and "Do not start a new topic in an existing thread; instead start a new thread." These rules are in place so others can follow and contribute to the discussion without getting themselves or others confused or lost. It also helps when others are trying to search for a topic to get an answer to an topic already addressed or being discussed.

The other two topics addressed in the opening post should also be posted in the appropriate forum. If you do a search you will find there are other threads discussing these topics.
