Emergency Preparedness

#1

Post by cputnam »

Our ward is very keen to preparing and managing emergency preparedness activities in our ward and stake.

We have a Google Docs forum and Facebook page for managing emergencies within our ward boundaries, but thought that it would be great to tie it all in with LDS Tools.

A place to report a families status - does anyone need emergency help? Are family members accounted for?
Is there a flood, or wild-fire imminent? Does the family need to evacuate? Do farm animals, or other animals need to be evacuated?

Who is close that can help? Has the resources to help?

Even push it father with a food-storage or other preparedness items inventory -- how can a family tackle it month by month - give them a schedule?

These are just ideas, but we think it would be great to tie it into the LDS Tools app that already has contact and ministering information.

Can it automatically notify the Bishop and Stake President if a family, neighborhood or ward is experiencing an emergency and needs assistance?

Another feature that would be helpful would be the ability to maintain a list of those families that have special needs. Such a list could be shared and maintained among those in the ward or stake that have the appropriate callings and roles.

The existing list mechanism might be able to be modified to allow for sharing amongst certain callings...and as those callings are changed, access to those lists could get added and/or removed.

Your post may get edited by the mods, as posting personal info like emails, is discouraged. And as this topic is 5 years old, it's quite likely you may not get the response you hope for. A better suggestion would be to send a private message to [cputman], hopefully he's still active in the Forums.

Private messaging is not available for those in moderation or new to the Tech Forum. A new user has to gain a few moderated posts before coming out of moderation. We know this is not ideal for new users but we get way too many spammers and have to control spammer access to posting and forum features.
