Demo account for Tools

Post by jacobstimpson »

I have been thinking about creating some practical YouTube videos to share with members of my Stake and family to show them how to use the Mobile Apps and LCR Website efficiently (and maybe how they are intend to be used) but because I have a reasonable expectation that these videos or screen shots or whatever would be shared I would love to use a Demo account with fake data so that I don't have to blur things out.

Also... If really great training material exists already please point me at it, as I have not found anything that gives vision and use case examples and stays up to date.

oh ya... and is understandable for the Deacons Quorum President (who holds keys) and the Stake Relief Society President who uses a flip phone still.

1. YouTube Video
2. Leadership Fireside
3. Showing my family members why they are not using the apps correctly (because I am younger and so it is always a competition)
4. Posting a blog post
5. Sharing via Zoom (cause Covid is annoying)

I live in Salt Lake so if I need to make a trip to the ROB, COB, JSMB or NOB for a discussion I would make myself available.

Unfortunately, there is no demo or training account available. The forums are just user-to-user discussion and help so it's very unlikely that you'll get any official response to a post here.

Note that the Code of Conduct states:
Do not post the same material in multiple threads.
It's best to just make a single post in the most appropriate forum you can find.

..... there is always "demo data" somewhere... LOL

Have they shared the creds or created a custom one for something like this???? Not yet...

Am I an optimist..

absolutely.....

I expect though not "official" these forums are monitored by people who know people and so I hope one of them can elevate my cause....

This post is meant to be seen by someone in ICS, the other was for someone in PSD.

I doubt they each check both... LOL

That is correct. There is little chance someone in ICS or PSD who has the position or authority to speak for the appropriate team will see either thread.

As eblood66 stated it is contrary to the Code of Conduct to post the same material in multiple threads and therefore the other post has been deleted. Posts in that thread have been merged with this thread.

When there is a need for the users of one thread to see the information in another thread you can link to the other thread or a post within the other thread.

The official method to get feedback to those who are in a position to make decisions or to speak on behalf of the product team is through the in-app feedback. For Member Tools this can be found in Contact Us in the Help menu. For Gospel Living it can be found in Feedback in the Profile menu

From what I understand, Member Tools is tested internally not using demo data, but instead using real data that's periodically copied to an internal lane of the web services, and the test version of the app syncs to that internal lane, which allows the Member Tools team to test different functions of the app using real data without affecting the "production" version of the data. In other words, the "test data" is real people's data, so it wouldn't be able to be shared.

I think there used to be dummy data in MLS, before Leader and Clerk Resources, but as time went on, all of the primary children eventually became unordained adults, the bishop became a centenarian, etc. :)

I think they all died, but we could no longer run test MLS versions and enter pretend death dates. [grin]
