I decided to open Tools and when I again tried to manually update, received the same failed message. I then decided to sign-out, open Tools again and sign-in and create a PIN (I used the same one I always used) and it works fine now.ECFinley wrote:Tools update failed for the last 6 days for manual update.

I am not able to use the tools app since the update in July. I get a message that it is currently not available. How can I fix this?

Have you tried signing out of the app and then signing back into it?

I read through all the posts and comments. Glad to know this has been brought to the attention of the developers. However, it's now August 12th and the problem still exists. So, I'm hoping there's some insight as to when a resolution might be forthcoming? As the Communications Specialist in my ward, I need the info in the LCR to be up-to-date if I'm going to reach the right people with our needed messaging efforts. So, I'm sending prayers and positive thoughts in the direction of the programmers and will hope a fix is in the works and on its way, soon.
Oh, and for the record, with regards to all the helpful suggestions offered, several people in my ward have experienced this. There's no rhyme or reason as to the device (some are older, some are brand new) or the OS (again, old and new). Devices have been turned off and on again. The app has been uninstalled and reinstalled. Some have toggled back and forth between the Automatic Update and Manual Update options, and then turned devices on and off. Trust me, we have some pretty tech-savvy people in our ward and they've done about everything humanly possible from a user's standpoint to resolve this and, sadly, nothing has worked. Like the LCR and the Gospel Living app and quite a few others—like any technology—there are bugs that need to be exterminated. But I have great faith in the developers and that they'll rise to the challenge and, once again, present us with some amazing resources. Thanks all!

The problem is, who is testing the software? My guess, based on what is happening to live product, is not a lot of testing is being done and it's up to the members to report problems. Not the way to run a successful railroad.

I’m having the same problem. It’s September 6th. It would be great if this could be permanently resolved.
