Tools Services not available

Login initiates, begins sync, then get message "Tools Services unavailable, try again later". Unable to sync or access account.

This is a user-to-user discussion forum, a specific solution to your problem is not available here unless someone has experienced the same thing, sees your post, and replies to it.

That said, my experience tells me that the best thing to do in your situation is exactly as the message says, try again later. This message usually appears when the server is overly busy (likely on a Sunday but not at this time of the week) or the server is having problems (there were some problems earlier this week).

If the problem persists for any length of time (several days, for example) there may be something about your device or software version that is causing the problem. If you look in the Member Tools forum for your specific device (iOS or Android) you will find many posts with experiences of others who have had any number of different problems and found solutions to them that may also work for you.

Others have reported issues with VPNs or filters they have applied to their device.

I get the same message after this latest sync, and a friend does too.

I just synced and it went though. Not sure why I'm having a different experience.

My chance are you a member of the Ward Council or someone who gets more data than the "rank and file" members? As far as Tools is concerned, I'm an ordinary member.

I get the same message on my new phone, but I can get in on my old phone. What do I need to do?

For help with a specific operating system device go to that operating system forum (Android Member Tools App or iPhone/iPad Member Tools App) for discussions about this. In the Android Member Tools App forum take a look at the LDS Tools Services are unavailable thread. In the iPhone/iPad Member Tools forum take a look at the Sync and Login Issues thread. That discussion has been ongoing for several months. Instead of the "Tools Service not available" message those users are reporting the "Member Services not available" message beginning at a this 20 August post.
