At one point, our stake president gathered up all of the Handbook quotes and policy letters that have been issued on the subject, studied them, consulted with his presiding authority, got the revelation he needed, and then said, "This is the way we will do it in our stake."

He has the keys to do that.

Wow- I hope our leadership does that much due diligence. Even if they don't- and they don't have to- we will do what they want obviously. Its hard to say "the handbook says" and leave it at that when it doesn't seem to say that. It is a ton easier for our leaders who have spent hundreds of hours input data, seeing vt/ht double, and be in the trenches when the above sceniero (sp?) happens and the top leaders study it out and seek revelation. Good move gentleman. The way we would hope it happens.
