I get the following error message when I try to get into the Database Portal

SSL peer was unable to negotiate an acceptable set of security parameters.

(Error code: ssl_error_handshake_failure_alert)

* The page you are trying to view can not be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.

* Please contact the web site owners to inform them of this problem. Alternatively, use the command found in the help menu to report this broken site.

because the computer will not connect the fail with update, trying to push the security certificate etc.

So what you're saying is that SSL won't connect, but it's not a certificate error?

Try connecting http to that site and running PortalCfg.exe. You'll have to run it as the user, but you'll have to make sure that it's with Power User rights or better. One thing is does is create a Proxy connection that's necessary for the portal to work properly.

Are you running deep freeze? If so, you might need to thaw things and run the routines to update the certificate and what not.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

So we can better help you, please edit your Profile to include your general location.

The best work around that we have found is to import the certificate from another machine on to the window 7 boxes :)
