If not, is an administrator responsible or who usually designated? I'm trying to figure out who manages the ward calendars.

I would hope it would be the members of the ward council who add, modify, and delete events from the various ward calendars. They are the owners of their own events, and should be the points of contact for their own events. The only reason to have a building scheduler is to create events for those outside of the ward, who cannot create events on your ward calendars.

THANK YOU. I've been asking around and no one knew the answer. Looking on all wards I found many with same calling and they all told me they had never heard of it
including me.! Putting 2 + 2 together I do notice that most were previous website administrators. So I am back to same question. If LCR Access Table is "Send a Message"
but we are also calendar administrators by default based on calling? So should be good to go? Doing some training so want to make sure I get it right.

LOVE THIS FORUM I solve many problems here. Thanks again

And to be a referee.

YES to both. Referee and overseer for building. Building schedulers in our stake are responsible for "private event" activities for their building. They
receive request and get approved from all bishops in building before scheduling. Great system,

I find it interesting that the calendar software was not written to support the procedures that many stakes and wards follow to approve, create, and deconflict events. The software does not require correlation and approval by multiple bishops. It does not require that all events be created by a building scheduler. It only requires that a calendar editor (usually a member of a ward council or stake council) create an event that does not use the same resource at the same time as another existing event.

Does this mean that the church leaders who set the calendar requirements do not understand the needs of stake and ward leaders?

The official announcement was sent to all units the first week of June. However, many bishoprics do not pass news on to those who need to know.

In our case, our 3 wards have never been able to let go of the "my day for the building" attitude. Because of that, we have had to work around a system designed to allow maximum use without conflicts. Thus, we lock the entire building down on different days each week for each ward who insists on having full run of the place without scheduling. It's a huge mess, but I gave up encouraging our local leaders to work within the system because they simply refused to let go of old habits.

Most of the church software isn't written to the "needs" but to the procedures developed by CHQ and outlined in the Handbook.

That said, there does seem to be a curious difference between the software and the Handbook. (20.2.7) I can only guess that the calendar is not intended to be the mechanism by which the bishop approves activities as there probably isn't enough information.

The biggest problem I've seen is that everyone seems to be holding onto processes developed around the limitation of paper-based building scheduling (there can only be one up-to-date copy). But there does seem to be a range of interpretations on what "oversees the scheduling of the meetinghouse" means.

As in listed does this mean it "may" be selected? Trying to resolve problem. Ward Bulletin Specialists have been getting email lists from ward clerks. This new
calling of Email Communication Specialist would seem to apply to Ward Bulletin Specialist? So should their calling be changed to Email Communication Specialist?

The former Ward Website calling now ECS has been given LCR access but does not require LCR email access but rather building scheduling and rights to:
● Create new calendars
● Approve new calendars
● Inactivate calendars
● Remove calendars
● Manage (add, modify, delete) events on Ward calendars (A bldg scheduler has this right too).

My ultimate goals are need names of callings to go along with rights:

Ward Bulletin Specialist just need LCR Access to send emails bulletins to entire ward
Ward Building Scheduler needs to be able to ● Manage (add, modify, delete) events on Ward calendars
Email Communication Specialist (formerly ward website) needs to be able to:
● Create new calendars
● Approve new calendars
● Inactivate calendars
● Remove calendars

Thanks for your help. I hope this makes sense!

No, as in "are" administrators.

All callings "may" be selected for a role in the calendar.

Note that anyone can be given a role in the calendar, they don't have to have a calling that grants them that role.

I'd also be very careful about who you give admin rights on the calendar. Some organizations may not appreciate that someone can just delete their calendar. Being able to add/edit/remove events is one thing, but changing the calendars themselves should be done at a higher level.
