WARD OR BRANCH IDENTIFICATION NUMBERS

How do we find ward or branch numbers that we can enter on the tithing slot “donate to missionary in other ward or branch”? I don’t know if ward or branch numbers are listed anywhere but I can’t seem to find them anywhere. Do we just call the bishop or president of each individual ward or branch to get their ward or branch number or is the number we need actually the phone number listed? Help please! I really wish to donate to my previous wards and branches...

Go to maps.churchofjesuschrist.org. Locate the unit and click on it for details. It's the number after it's name.

Or ask your own ward clerk for the Unit Numbers you are after. He has the tools to find them!

Or ask the families of the missionaries you want to support. They can look in Settings in donations to see their unit name and number.

Depending on your calling, you will be able to find that information on the CDOL website. Award clerk would have access to that site. it lists all the leadership in the world.

There are a few ways you can find it.

1. It shows on historical donation slips in lds.org/donations
2. It is the five-digit number at the end of the URL for the ward on LDS Meetinghouse Locator ("...&id=ward:#####")
3. Ask your ward clerk.

The one I searched for has a six digit number at the end of the URL. Could that still be the correct unit number?

Yes.
In the Find a Meetinghouse app the URL ends with "&id=ward:XXXXXX", where "XXXXXX" is the unit number. This example has six digits but older units could be five digits. I found a Spanish branch that looked like this: "&id=ward.spanish:XXXXXXX". There were seven digits. I suspect it is because it is relatively new.

When our stake was created in 2015 we got a 7-digit number. It was the first one I saw. We also have a ward created around the same time that got seven digits.

Some units still have 3-digit numbers. My parents lived in one. I assume there are 4-digit unit numbers, but I do not know of one that I could check.

The earliest ones have only 2 digits. There are units with numbers all lengths up to seven. There used to be some meaning to different ranges of numbers, but for the last several years for new units it just generates the next allowed number.
