I was wondering if there is a character limit for a Circles post. Some bishops has been sending lengthy emails using the Send a Message function at Leader and Clerk Resources. They have said they would rather use the new Adults circle at Gospel Living because they believe more members would see their messages.
It seems to me that Gospel Living is designed for shorter messages, much akin to texting, rather than emailing. I know I would prefer an email for the longer things. But this technology stuff is a bit befuddling to many of our leaders. As the stake technology specialist, among other callings, I try to help.

Re: Character Limit for Circles Post
My first question is how many are in the different circles? For some reason, I see 150 members in my EQ circle but only 17 in my Adults circle.
I'm not sure what the character limit is, but the interface make anything beyond the typical SMS rather painful.

Re: Character Limit for Circles Post
I see almost the opposite. My EQ circle only lists 7 (but when I tap the list it seems to indicate 7 have joined and all the rest have not). I see 202 in my adults circle and 7 who have not joined. Some who are "joined" in my adults circle are "not joined" in my EQ circle, which doesn't make sense for those who I know don't own a smart phone and so would not have joined either one.
To the OP question, I don't mind leaders sending out a periodic email via the send a message app and will skim or read that at my convenience, but would likely not read a long post in the Gospel Living app.

Who knows? The number of members in each circle does not match the number of names on the list.russellhltn wrote:My first question is how many are in the different circles?
I agree that longer messages should go in email and Gospel Living circles are designed for shorter messages.

As long as I'm careful to not go down into the "Not Joined" section, the list and the reported number matches for me.lajackson wrote:Who knows? The number of members in each circle does not match the number of names on the list.
