Some stakes and wards submit events to their calendars that have information that must be protected from public disclosure. The design of the LUWS (local unit web sites) is to permit displaying information that would be considered inappropriate for public disclosure or even violate privacy laws in some states or countries but useful or even necessary for stake or ward members to have. Only the home page of a stake or ward web page is public. All other pages are for authorized users only.

And authorized is really just a member of that ward or stake. You just also need a login account. Unfortunately, this last part is where you are having trouble.

I'll just add that I had an issue I noticed Sunday. I sent an email in on Monday and heard back this morning. Granted, this did not resolve my issue, but just a confirmation (not automated) stating it had been received and passed on to the appropriate department to be taken care of.

Still nothing. It's been over 24 hours.

(Someone from this forum provided me with an email address, so I will have to wait for that too)

Where can I locate the Missoula (Montana) Stake Home Page?

The Missoula Montana Stake page can be found here, but you're not going to see any more than the front page without a working login/password.

I've noticed the "lost page" seems to give the same "sent" message even if I give it a bogus address. It might not send a message if there are no logins associated with it.

Have you tried creating a new login?

And the reason this is a good idea is because when signing up for a new account, it will tell you if you have already created one.

BTW, I just tried the "lost username" function. I got the email instantly. I then gave it another email that I have that's not associated with LDS Account. I'm still waiting.

So, I suspect that you don't have a LDS Account associated with the email you provided.

Unless you've previously set up a LDS Account, you won't have one.

Note, LDS Account should not be confused with NetID, FamilySearch, or new FamilySearch logins. They are all different.

I'd suggest setting up a LDS Account and see what happens.

I set up a new account using my wife's membership number and her email address. She got the confirmation.

Mine was set up years ago at a church site where I was to ADD ward employment openings to the church site (I was the employment specialist for 9 years). Perhaps it was different than lds.org , or perhaps they lost my information when they went to a new log in protocol.

Either way, as you have found out you get the same response I get using my legitimate address when you type in a bogus one. I don't know what the webmasters were thinking when they cooked that one up, but it is subject for another day in another topic. (I manage two websites with 100,000 members, and if their account is not recognized, our software tells them the facts. We also provide a tech support phone and a dedicated email address to support as a last ditch effort - rather than just leaving them alone to think up all sorts of unrelated possibilities)

Thanks all for your input. I am on my way to the stake calendar.

The Wiki shows that the employment database uses NetID. LUWS (the ward and stake websites) used to use NetID, but they transitioned to LDS Access.

With your experience with other websites, I hope you understand when I strongly suggest you create a login under your own information rather than your wifes.

As for the odd behavior of the "lost" function, I wouldn't rule out that the behavior was by design. Someone could use that feature to find out if a address belonged to a member or not. It could also be used to harass someone by entering their emails to generate messages to that email address.
