Anti virus

I am just making sure the computers in the stake have what they need in the way of anti virus software. I have looked at them all. Some have sofos? Not sure what that is. Others have a Microsoft program while others appear to not have anything up to date. Is there a program that the church wants to have on the computer. Also some have a continual pop up that says window installer.

Thanks

The official Anti-Virus software that the Church requires is "Sophos".
If you find computers that are not running that package, then contact your stake technology specialist and have him install the package. Other anti-virus packages should be removed.

I am the stake technologist. No one gave me software to install. How do I know the sophos is up to date. I notice in most cases it comes up as needing to be updated. That is according to the Microsoft warning.

Sophos should be updating itself (or checking) each time the computer's booted.
You can manually force an update by doing a right click on the sophos icon and selecting "update". You can more information about Sophos at http://tech.lds.org/wiki/Software

I'm not familiar with what package from Microsoft you are referring to. If you continue to have problems, I suggest you contact the Global Service Desk for assistance. Experimentation can often lead to more problems, so I always take the safe route and call for assistance if something doesn't go accordingly.

I have found that very often that on boot, Sophos, tries to update before the networking is ready, resulting in the issue you identified.

If your machines are still on dial-up, you may not be getting any updates since the only time it connects is when MLS needs to do a send/receive.
