If you are concerned with security for off-site backups, try using some sort of encrypted repository on the flash drive. I use TrueCrypt, which uses strong encryption (AES-256) and is fairly easy to use. It creates a file which it mounts as a separate drive. It is open source and free as well. Since the computer in our clerk's office is used by so many people, I created such a repository for the bishopric in order to secure confidential information, such as welfare items, minutes etc.
