I hope you see this on the forum, as most of us here answer questions on the forum so others may see the responses and learn!

The actual term Custom Reports was the term we used with MLS to make unique database-like reports. It sounds like you've been assigned by someone who has used this old MLS system.
The newer LCR (Leader & Clerk Resources) has built in reports, some with sorting options, but almost no ability to pull "custom information" from our membership records that is not already included in a report.

So, become familiar with what LCR has to offer, and this means PLAY TIME. (Think 4 year old with iphone-) Try every report, every option and sort. If the report does not show you EXACTLY what you need, you must further "customize" it yourself, using a spreadsheet (copy to the clipboard from the offered LCR report and paste into your spreadsheet or word processor,) or print and use a yellow highlighter, or a pair of scissors.

Example to get you started: Your list of HT/VT Assigned Go to LCR/REPORTS/Home and visiting teachers and use the sort functions as needed. Need further processing? Copy the report data and paste into a spreadsheet.

The report "unit Statistics" is useful, especially under the "households" section for members of your ward with unique needs/challenges, (although part-member family is not one of them.) Selecting the blue colored number is actually a link that brings up a listing of those members that make up the total for the line.
The "Bishops action and interview list" is also useful for status of baptism and priesthood ordinations that can also highlight information you might use to discover issues.
The "quarterly report" can also be useful, use the blue numbers to pull up lists

There is a download that can do some of the part-member family list. See Custom Reports in the Wiki.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

So we can better help you, please edit your Profile to include your general location.

With your list request, it may be your leaders are trying to asses home teaching effectiveness directed at part member families, and not just asking for two lists. Are they assigned? Are they being visited? Who is seeing them? Your bishop might want to discuss this report each month to gain more insight than the "home / visiting teaching percentage" stat allows. It's a worthy goal, but may take special handling on your part to obtain it.

Far before MLS, I lived in a stake that asked the Priesthood to report the statistics each month of the home teaching efforts to families WITHOUT M.P. IN THE HOME. WE had to manually type or write up the list each month and give it to the stake representative. And yes, it did cause us to notice and discuss if our home teaching was effective to that special group.
