Receiving Webcast on Linux
Anyone had any luck receiving a broadcast using the Meetinghouse Webcast software on Linux? I have tried VLC media player and I get audio, but only a still video picture. I believe it is because the codec used WVC1 Windows Media Video 9 Advanced Profile is used and not fully supported by VLC. I am running Linux Mint 13. Any tips would be welcomed. Thanks. Rick

I don't know if this is useful info, but I've been able to use my mac to receive webcast streams using VLC. I use the receiver box for actual meetings, but the macbook works great for testing.

I've had better luck with Mplayer but try downloading the w32codecs:
apt-get install w32codecs
or 64-bit:
apt-get install w64codecs
You may have to enable the universe repository or add the medibuntu repository. More info on Ubuntu's site (Mint is built on top of Ubuntu and fully binary compatible).

Also as a side note, the raspberry pi with Openelec and the VC-1 license will receive the Church's test stream (WMV3) nearly flawlessly (slight audio delay after awhile, but maybe fixed now).

The stream is different for Stake webcasts though (WVC1), and it doesn't currently work for me I wish there was a way to use WMV3, maybe I'll call the GSC and see.
