MiBox app download

Post by rwardell »

If I am understanding correctly the MiBox beta is over. Have there been some documents generated for downloading and installing the app on a device not provided by the church and included in the bet testing? I have a second MiBox that i purchased and would like to install the webcast app but am not sure how to do it. thank you.

The webcast app could be downloaded from the Google Play Store. I haven’t checked whether it is still available from there

I did a quick check and it appears to be there. It's called "Meetinghouse Webcast".
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

Meetinghouse Webcast.
It has not been officially released as far as announcing it, but it is available to download on Android TV devices now.

I found it interesting that in the recent email instructions regarding the new webcast beta testing, the Mi Box wasn't included in the "Devices to consider" list. (Supplemental: Meetinghouse Webcast App, FAQ.) Was it not listed for a reason or just overlooked?

The Mi box is a great box and can be used. It wasn't included in the devices to consider because of a preference to recommend boxes with internal network ports. The Mi Box requires an adapter to connect it to the network and from experience cable adapters can have a short life.

Just an update....

We did officially release the webcast app and added the Mi Box back on the recommended list. We simply noted that it needed a USB to Ethernet adapter.

We did find a list of Google approved AndroidTV devices (see attached). There are a lot of device out there that appear to be AndroidTV units but are not. If you want something other than the two recommended devices provided in the MHTech article (https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/hel ... p?lang=eng), please make sure the device you select is on this list.
