Download video of Individual General Conference Talks

#1

Post by strago »

Is there any way to download videos of Individual Conference Talks? Right now the only options are mp3 and pdf. Even browser add-ons have trouble doing it. Tried with both Firefox and Chrome.

https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/chu ... c?lang=eng

could use an update. Only the very new talks have the download video option.

It appears they only let you download an entire session, but not individual talks. Ouch! That's going to be big trouble for those with a slow or metered Internet connection. For example, I downloaded all 3 sizes for the April 2020 opening session and they look like this:

2020-04-1000-saturday-morning-session-360p-eng.mp4 626MB
2020-04-1000-saturday-morning-session-720p-eng.mp4 1.08GB
2020-04-1000-saturday-morning-session-1080p-eng.mp4 3.44GB

Where are you guys looking?

I went to gc.churchofjesuschrist.org, clicked on first talk in the Saturday Evening session.

When I got into the talk, I hover over the video and I have download options.

An issue is you have to go into each talk, you can't do them all from one page.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

You can DL an entire session in one gulp by clicking on the 3 vertical dots in the shaded session heading.

I'm thinking about past posts were people wanted individual talks without having to go into each talk to retrieve it. Apparently, at one time it was possible to download individual talks from either the session or the conference page.

The download option that shows up in @russellhltn's screen captures don't appear for me either. I'm trying to download one talk from October 2014 conference. I was able to hack together the URL for the mp4 and download it, but I miss having the download links available. The talk is available for download in Media Library, but I need to edit it down and embed it in a PowerPoint for some training and it's much easier for me to do that from my laptop. I hope this is a temporary situation!

I am also trying to download every talk as an individual mp3. A few years ago I was able to download ALL talks in each session. They would show up as individual files. Now it looks like I have to click on each talk one at a time and download that file. This is a very time consuming process. Is there any way that this feature can be re-enabled so that it is easier to download the files?

Plus I have noticed that the bitrate of each mp3 is much more compressed at 32Kbps vs 64Kbps. The audio does not sound so good anymore. Almost as bad as phone quality. I would love that to go back to 64Kbps. Any chance I could request that too?

This is probably not the place to requests features on the website, so if anyone knows where I could request something like this, I would appreciate it.

Thanks!
