Almost all of the positions I have seen open for the church are software related. I have almost 20 years of experience in telecommunications hardware and systems repair. I have a bachelor's degree in Education and no technical certifications, but if you needed someone to really solve a problem with a 12012 GSR Cisco router (I know slightly outdated now) or troubleshoot an OC48 outage then I would be your resource.
Question: Who manages the hardware and transmission systems for the church and where would their position listings be located?
I would love to work for the church - even at a lower pay - because I think there would be no greater service than helping others use the technology available to strengthen their testimonies.

That happens to be where the need is greatest in the IT area for the Church at this time.

The open positions are all located in the same place -- go to http://lds.org/jobs and search. I saw an opening for a network engineer there that seems to be basically in your area, so that shows that the IT openings are not 100% software-related.
If you want to work for the Church, regardless of the area, you start out the process the same way. Go to http://lds.org/jobs and submit your profile and/or browse for and apply for jobs.
