We had a member of our Bishopric who lost his copy of handbook 1. How do I get another copy for him?

The last time we did this, the stake president had to write a letter on stake letterhead to LDS Distribution Services explaining how the handbook was lost, whether or not it was destroyed and, if not, what extraordinary efforts had been made to recover the Handbook. If the handbook remained in the hands of a person formerly in the calling, we were instructed to get it back from that person and a replacement was not sent.

No, no. If he doesn't find the Handbook, you loan him one and make him memorize it.

I keep mine in the Bishop's Office. It is much easier to use the on-line version of both Handbook 1 and 2 that are available through LDS.ORG. Anyone with an LDS.ORG account can view Handbook 2. Members of the Bishopric and some others can get to Handbook 1.

If you have certain callings (stake presidency/clerk/executive secretary, bishopric/clerk/executive secretary), you can sign in to Leader Resources on LDS.org and then you will have access to Handbook 1. There are a couple of ways to get to it via Leader Resources, but one is on the Applications menu there is a link to "Church Handbooks."
Questions that can benefit the larger community should be asked in a public forum, not a private message.
