Customized New Member Report

#1

Post by aplucinik »

Am I missing something in the "Create a Report" section of the LCR? If I try to create a customized "New Member Report" of new converts 9 years or older for ONLY 2018 from scratch there isn't any way to run a report (or construct search criteria) of baptisms where the convert was 9 years or older AT THE TIME OF BAPTISM. I don't want a list of converts 9 years or older at TIME OF REPORT. I want a list of converts 9 years or older AT TIME OF BAPTISM and only in the year 2018.

In other words, I want a report where the search criteria includes the convert's age that is based on the calculation of [Date of Baptism - Date of Birth] is 9 years or older and ONLY those baptisms that occurred in 2018.

I know there is a canned report called "New Member Report" where you can run a report of new converts within the last 12 months. But if I try to run the report in July 2019, for example, the resulting report will incorrectly include new converts in 2019 and omit new converts between 1 Jan 2018 and 1 July 2018 because the report is for the last 12 months.

Sometimes, you can't get a report that's exactly what you want. You may have to settle for one that's close and use the information to create the one requested.

Generally, the reports support the programs and aims of what comes down from Church Headquarters. All bets are off if we're talking about programs from the area, stake or ward level.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

So we can better help you, please edit your Profile to include your general location.

The New Member Report in LCR now allows you to report on Convert Baptisms within the past 24 months.

You can also create a Custom Report that will get you very close to what you need using the following search criteria:

Member Status IS Convert
AND
Confirmation Date WAS IN LAST 4 Years

In the report Columns you can display Preferred Name, Confirmation Date, Age, Gender, Priesthood, Callings & Unit.

Note: This report is 100% congruent with the New Member Lists for the past 24 months.
Note: The only thing this report may overlook would be Convert Baptisms from your stake who have since moved out of your stake boundaries. It may also include Convert Baptisms from other stakes who have since moved into your stake boundaries.

In a less automated way, you can also access historical, Quarterly Reports for the past several years which list convert baptisms at the bottom of the report.

Hopefully, one of these options works for you

... has "New Member" report (up to last 24 months) been removed as a fixed item in LCR?

I can't see the new member report anywhere. Does someone have the direct link for it? It is not under REPORTS anymore :( I am a stake clerk by the way.

It is still there for ward clerks. I don't know what you should see as a stake clerk.

According to the Access table Stake Clerks should have access to Create Report.

It looks like for some stakes it has been updated and it part of the Progress Record (on the Reports menu). My stake has the old New Member report still.

I’m the Ward Technology Specialist in my ward and report to the Ward Clerk.

I want to make certain the new members (mostly move-ins) know that the ward has a private Facebook presence for outreach.

Could a list of new members be generated by the Ward Clerk for this purpose?

I plan to use the list and see if they have public contact information on the Directory and then text and/or email them to invite them to apply for membership in this private group on Facebook.

If possible, I’d like the list to:
- Start in July 2022 and go to the present.
- Only include names
- Only include youth and adults
- Only reflect public information on the Directory, nothing private I shouldn’t have access to.

Our Ward Clerk is a new move-in himself, is new to his current employment, is a new Ward Clerk, and is quite young. He’s pretty overwhelmed and I don’t want to add to his burdens. I thought if I could give him the exact steps to take, it would save him a lot of time figuring things out and I could get the list sooner.

Any help on exactly what steps to take that I can pass on to him? It would be much appreciated!
