Transferring Balance amounts to a serving missionary's new unit

Two missionaries were called from our Ward, and then their families moved. The funding Unit and the Home Unit has successfully been moved to the new Units for both of these families, but there remains amounts of money in our Ward's Missionary Fund under these Elders' names for the past 8 months after the move.
I called the Church Office Building in Salt Lake 3 days ago and requested that the precise amounts remaining under their names be transferred to the new Home/Funding Unit, and the staff person I spoke with said the request was submitted, and gave me a reference number.
The funds are still present, and I wanted to bring the issue to a close, but I don't want to pester the staff on a matter that's already under way and just experiencing the normal timeline for similar issues. How long would such a transfer normally take to be finalized?
One of the new Home Units asked us to just mail them a physical check from our unit (both families have moved more than a thousand miles away), and I'm reluctant to go that route and end up accidentally double transferring the funds.
