Out of state Tax

Postby seamusz » Thu Mar 25, 2021 9:20 am

How do we identify tax when it is out of our home state?

We are paying for a camp site in Idaho, but we only have the Utah Sate Sales Tax available as a category...

Thanks,

Joe

As far as I know the church does not get Idaho sales tax back so it doesn't have to be entered as a separate item.

In that case, the out-of-state tax becomes part of the expense.

For a Utah camp, a $60 camp site rental for a young women camp with $4 tax would be entered as $64 young women and $4 Utah sales tax.

For an Idaho camp, a $60 camp site rental for a young women camp with $4 tax would be entered as $64 young women. (Unless the bishop wants to allocate the tax to some other budget category.)
