Create record for "Not Accountable" adult son

#1

Post by alan.richardson »

I have been asked what the proper process is to create a membership record for a lovable young man (~20+ y. o.) who if a member of the Church would have his record marked as "not accountable". MLS is looking for a convert baptism record created by the mission office due to his age, but given his capacity, neither baptism not temple ordinances are necessary (verified by ecclesiastic leadership). He lives at home with active members, who have asked to add him to the rolls as a member, which seems like a reasonable request. Has this been possible before turning 9, we could have created a child of record entry, and proceeded from there. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thank you.

Parents? Guardians? If he is living with adults legally responsible for him, I think they could make the request. Getting it done would probably take a special request to the Membership Department. You will not be able to create the record in MLS, but you might be able to use MLS messaging to send the request forward, with sufficient detail, of course.

This article here about Special Requests, may be of some help. Lajackson is right, this needs to be handled by the membership department at CHQ.

I can follow it up that way. Didn't want to make someone do it by hand if there was a preferred (automatic) way of doing so.

Thanks.
