Adoptive parent...
I have a sister who was raised and eventually adopted by her grandmother, but her birth mother still appears on the record as her parent. She would like this changed, but I'm not sure on this. I guess the question is, does the parent entry reflect the birth or adoptive parent?

Generally, it reflects the legal parent. An adoptive parent is not put in until the adoption is final.
The membership system only hold one set of parents. This sister may want to make sure FamilySearch shows the true situation as you can record biological and adoptive parents in there.
